Money On Trees or the Price of Avocados

Money On Trees or the Price of Avocados

If you love aguacate, (and come on, who doesn’t? 😏🥑) you know the pain of emptying your wallet at your local supermercado.

The price inflation of this nutritious – and delicious 😉– superfood can be daunting. BusinessInsider reports “Avocado prices have rocketed in recent years by up to 129%, with the average national price of a single Hass avocado reaching $2.10 in 2019…” 💸
¿Por que? You might ask (or cry out). 😩

🥑There are multiple factors keeping avocados expensive: from the inability of avocado orchards to keep up with market demands, to avocados being out of season and imported, to the ongoing struggle farmers are having to keep their crops safe.

🥑Whether you eat an avocado a day or like to treat yourself to some homemade guacamole, there’s one thing that the avocado price hike can teach us: the rule of supply and demand.

🥑It’s doubtful the demand for avocados is going down anytime soon, so keep track of supply and demand trends so you can prepare yourself (and your wallet) next time you shop.
