Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀 and aquí at SUMA, we know that getting diagnosed not only takes an emotional toll pero it takes a financial one también. 💛 And according to a 2018 cancer.org study, breast cancer was the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Hispanic women.
Here are a few tips from @urbanwealthmgt to help anyone undergoing treatment:
🤝 Be proactive about healthcare costs. Ask your provider to be specific about your treatment plan and monitor insurance payments for mistakes. If you need ayuda, Breast Cancer Org suggests reaching out to organizations that offer financial assistance as well as local organizations that offer help for practical needs like food and transportation.
👩❤️👨 Create a support team. Su familia and amig@s will ask how to help so be ready with suggestions: navigating bills and insurance, childcare, errands, meal trains. Deja que te apoyen.
✍🏽 Keep paperwork and notes. Treatment will most likely be spread among several doctors. Keep a personal copy to turn to whenever you speak with your healthcare provider.
The Latinx community es muy fuerte 💪🏽 but part of being strong means asking for help when you need it. 💛
